The Regensburg-based supplier Vitesco Technologies has received several orders for battery management systems (BMS) with a total value of two billion euros. One of the customers is to receive the associated battery control units for 400-volt and 800-volt electric vehicle architectures in a version for wireless communication.

More space in favor of the battery properties

With this solution, the wiring within the battery is reduced and space is freed up, which either offers space for a larger battery capacity or enables a more compact battery system with lower weight. Battery management is a key function of electric driving. In addition to controlling and monitoring a balanced charge level (state of charge, SoC), the BMS also has the task of protecting the batteries from overheating. Intelligent BMS solutions consisting of control units, sensors and application software to fulfill this function.
