The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has announced that it will fund the ILAB project of the junior professorship for battery management methods and the chair of electrical energy systems at the University of Bayreuth with around 2,200,000 euros over a period of two years.
In the ILAB project (intelligent battery test laboratory), a new type of infrastructure will be set up in the future in the field of battery testing. This should systematically integrate computer-aided methods in the field of experimental characterization of batteries. This includes mathematical optimization, methods of artificial intelligence, uncertainty analysis, statistical experimental design and model predictive control. Through interdisciplinary and networked work, development processes are to be accelerated and innovative solutions found.
A core goal of the project is to shorten the development cycles. For this purpose, an intelligent combination of experiments and the systematic use of computer-aided tools in the planning, implementation and evaluation of battery tests should be used. Tests are planned at three levels (electrode level, cell level and module level) in the Bayreuth battery test laboratory. This enables a cross-scale view.
