The pilot line for the production of electrolytes for battery cells, announced by the German company "E-Lyte Innovations" at the end of May, is scheduled to go into operation in Kaiserslautern in October. The developed system is to be set up at the location of the joint venture partner and high-performance lubricant producer "Fuchs Lubricants Germany". In addition, a plant is being built in Kaiserslautern that can flexibly produce several thousand tons of electrolyte per year in series production. Completion is planned for the end of 2023.
With the implementation of this project, E-Lyte is the first German company that can offer the European battery market one of the most important components from European production. "Our goal is to help make the European battery value chain less dependent on geopolitical events as quickly as possible," says Managing Director Dr. Ralph Wagner. A local supply chain for electrolyte solutions is also essential for another reason: the electrolyte only has a limited shelf life, which can be limited to just a few months, depending on the complexity of the composition.
