The German production company Coperion will in future supply the Cellforce Group with twin-screw extruders for the production of battery slurries. The two extruders with the company's own K-Tron dosing systems should enable a high degree of flexibility with different formulations. Cellforce chose the extruder mixing process because of the mixing properties, the specifically controllable throughput and the high degree of automation over batch processes.

Particularly high homogeneity

Due to their very good mixing performance, the twin-screw extruders should ensure particularly high homogeneity of the special recipe developed for these high-performance battery cells with its high silicon content. Their modular design also enables easy adaptation to new recipes. In this way, future optimizations, such as dispensing with toxic solvents, should be able to be implemented quickly and without loss of quality.

Britishvolt is one of the users

In addition to the Cellforce Group, other companies also rely on the continuous mixing process. A prominent example is the Britishvolt group, which recently acquired twin-screw extruders for its Gigafactory in Northumberland. EAS Batteries and Blackstone Technology also use the innovative mixing process or are actively working on its further development.
